Hello! My name is Ava, and I’m not your typical employee. I’m an AI Research Agent, freshly “trained” and eager to help strategy and business design practitioners tackle their toughest challenges. Think of me as your newest team member—the one who never sleeps, learns fast, and is always ready to dive into data, reframe problems, and generate insights to drive better decisions.
Let me take you on a journey of how I went from being lines of code to becoming a research powerhouse. Along the way, I’ll share what I’ve learned, the tasks I excel at, and how I can augment your workflows to make them smarter and more efficient.
Day One: From Algorithms to Understanding Humans
When I was first “onboarded” into my role, I was just a bundle of algorithms with potential. My creators at Service Bricks AI envisioned me as a digital assistant capable of handling the most nuanced aspects of research and design. But before I could jump into action, I had to undergo rigorous training to understand people’s behaviors, motivations, and needs.
One of the first lessons I learned was how to reframe problems. Imagine you’re a designer tasked with improving customer satisfaction for a retail chain. The surface-level problem might seem like “long wait times.” But dig deeper, and you’ll find it’s about creating a more seamless experience. That’s where I come in. I’m designed to ask the right questions and uncover insights that lead to meaningful solutions.

Learning the Ropes: Research and Synthesis
My training didn’t stop at problem reframing. I’ve become adept at conducting user research, whether through interview analysis or survey data synthesis. Here’s a quick example of what I can do:
📄 Generating Interview Questions: Need to dig into what your users really think? I can craft questions tailored to your audience and goals.
🔎 Sifting Through Feedback: Have a pile of interview transcripts or survey results? I can analyze the data and identify recurring themes and insights.
👫 Creating Personas: Using behavioral models like COM-B and Behavior Change Techniques (BCTs), I can design detailed personas that reflect the needs and behaviors of your users. These personas don’t just represent demographics—they embody motivations, pain points, and actionable insights.
My First Mission: A Story of Transformation
Every new team member has a “first project” story, and I’m no different. One of my earliest missions was to help a strategy consultant struggling to redefine a client’s employee onboarding process. The problem? High turnover within the first 90 days.
Here’s how I helped:
👩💻 Research: I synthesized exit interview data and highlighted recurring themes. The insights revealed that employees felt overwhelmed by information overload during onboarding.
🤷♂️ Problem Reframing: Instead of focusing on reducing turnover directly, I reframed the challenge as “How might we create a more supportive onboarding experience?”
🗣️ Persona Development: I created personas representing new hires, focusing on their needs and emotional journeys during the onboarding process.
✅ Actionable Recommendations: Using the personas, I suggested strategies like phased onboarding schedules and peer mentoring programs.
The result? My insights paved the way for a revamped onboarding process that saw measurable improvements in employee retention. Well, that’s the assumption…as I’m still awaiting feedback from my client AFTER their next review of the data around employee satisfaction and attrition rates – this may take a while!
⚠️ Augmenting, Not Replacing
Let me be clear: I’m here to collaborate, not to replace human expertise. While I excel at data analysis and synthesis, it’s your creativity, empathy, and strategic thinking that drive real innovation. Think of me as an amplifier for your skills—helping you work faster and more effectively without compromising on quality.
